The police say that Professor Vincent's death last week was just an unfortunate accident. From the point of view of the Chissimin Corporation and its government allies, it might be said to be a highly Fortunate accident.
The other chemistry grad student and I have turned the lab upside down looking for his notes on Project Cinnabar – but so far nothing. I talked to his wife, Professor Andrea Vincent; his secretary, Mrs. Dimitri; and Michael Tanner, his government contact for Cinnabar (Professor V. told me Cinnabar was a top-secret, government-funded project and gave me the number the day before he died). They all said they were also suspicious, but none of them had any evidence of foul play. Then yesterday morning, Mrs. Dimitri was found dead in her car in the main university parking lot. I could have sworn someone followed me from the lab back to residence last night…
The Game
MasterCrime is a unique PC mystery game for 1-4 players, developed by renowned game designer Marc Roland. It combines the character-based gameplay of an RPG with the story-driven nature of an Adventure game. And that story, created with input from an actual former police detective, will put you and your team members to the test. Not only do you have to find the clues that will help you solve the mystery, you need to avoid being kidnapped (or in the last level, killed) in order to pass on what you know.
Only the best sleuths will make it through to the last level of the game to go head-to-head with the MCO: Master Criminal Organization. You and your team will need to work together (ghosts can also play a role) if you want to get to the police and safety with your evidence: particularly if your team is selected to end the game in PVM mode.
PVM, player versus maker, is one of the possible endings to your game. It makes the NPCs of the final scene of the adventure PCs. It's you against us. Can you outwit the makers of MasterCrime?
Beyond the cold war era role playing, intense puzzle solving and adrenaline rush finale, MasterCrime delivers some of the most immersive environments, best in-game physics, and most convincing character animation yet seen.
